Services Provided
- Emergency and medium term accommodation for up to 17 men.
- The facility is supervised by staff 24 hours each day, 7 days per week.
- Mixture of shared and single rooms.
- Support with alcohol and drug detoxification in an abstinence based setting.
- Assessment and referral to the Bridge addiction rehabilitation programme.
- Practical guidance, support and help.
- Social rehabilitation.
- Working towards reintegration within the wider community.
- Support with the activities of daily living.
- Networking, liaison and referral to specialist services.
- Advocacy with other agencies.
- Qualified counselling available.
- Budgeting advice.
- Trust Account for custodial budgeting for those without a personal bank account.
- Supporting men in their spiritual journey towards a Christian faith.
- Support and liaison with Justice Services (Police, Court, Probation and Prison).

Statistics
- The Salvation Army has been providing this service in Palmerton North for approximately 35 years.
- Approx 120 men supported each year.
- Length of stay varies for one night to two years plus.
- Age range for 18yrs to 80 yrs plus.
- Approx 5200 bed nights each year.
House rules require clients:
- To remain free of the use of alcohol and drugs while living at the Hostel.
- To be respectful to staff and other clients.
- Not to use or threaten violence or intimidation.
- To observe a curfew between 10pm and 5am.
- To take responsibility for personal decisions and behaviour.
- To work with staff to establish an Individual Client Plan and do all you can to make it succeed.
- To pay weekly board.
Some reasons for seeking help at the Hostel include:
- Homelessness
- Relationship breakdown
- Addiction problems including
alcohol, drugs and gambling.
- Financial problems
- Emotional distress
- Poor mental health
- Requiring bail or parole address acceptable
to the Police and Court
- Recently released from prison
Admission Criteria
- Honesty with regard to situation and background
- Have an identified support need
- Be willing to address personal issues
- Be willing to comply with House Rules
- Be willing to live a sober lifestyle
- Be a male over 18 years of age
- Be willing to accept medical or psychiatric
treatment if required
